The Commission for Energy Regulation (CER) has appointed the Register of Electrical Contractors of Ireland (RECI) as the new Gas Safety Supervisory Body. RECI has formed a limited company known as the Register of Gas Installers Ireland (RGII), which is responsible for registering gas installers and regulating their activities with respect to safety. RGII applications for registration are available for download from the website: www.rgii.ie

As of the 26th of June 2009 it is an offence for installers to carry out work in the areas of domestic natural gas installation, repair, maintenance or servicing unless registered with the RGII.

Information for Natural Gas Customers about Registered Gas Installers

This section provides important information for customers who are looking for a competent installer to install, service or repair natural gas installations or appliances.

In the interest of your safety, Bord Gáis Networks advises that gas installations should only be carried out by a Registered Gas Installer, in conformance with the relevant Irish Installation Standards (I.S. 813 or I.S. 820).

What is a Registered Gas Installer?
A Registered Gas Installers is an installer or service engineer, who has completed the required gas installation safety training and provides to the RGII the necessary insurance cover to carry out gas installations to the required industry standard.

In the interest of your safety, Bord Gáis Networks advises that gas installations and service maintenance work should only be carried out by a Registered Gas Installer, in conformance with the relevant Irish Installation Standards (I.S. 813 or I.S. 820)
